In the Fall of 2003, while living and going to college in Forest Grove, OR, I began to fiddle with recording some original musical ideas. The songs started to take shape as I played over my own guitar parts repeatedly. What I ended up with after a few months were five songs of only guitar. I thought it would be a fun thing to burn cds of these songs and give them away to family and friends, so that's what I did. My family members each got one Christmas morning so that was the first time these songs were really heard by anyone other than myself. Back at school I gave them out to anybody that wanted one, signing it "Jai" and writing "First Tracks" on the cd with a Sharpie.

I present them to you here, officially, once again, for free, in all their amateur glory. ;-) Musically, I was only three years old when I wrote and recorded these first songs (I didn't pick up a guitar until I was 20). They're not perfect, but that's the beauty in them. They mean something. I thought it would be fun to offer these first tracks as a precursor to my first album which will be ready in a few months.

When you tell a story, it's usually best to start at the beginning, right? ;-) This is how Jai starts. Thanks for listening.
